MLB's Smart Pitch Guide

TRC Baseball strives to ensure that our players play safely in all aspects of the game, particularly pitching. Our coaches follow the MLB Pitch Smart guidelines in order to limit any chance of arm injuries. For more information, follow the link: https://m.mlb.com/pitchsmart/pitching-guidelines

Bat Guidelines

2 ¾ inch barrel bats are not approved for play at any level.

Rookie Division and below: The maximum barrel size is 2 ¼ inches.

9/10 division: The maximum barrel size is 2-1/4 inches, however, if the bat meets the USABats standard (signified by the USA Baseball logo printed on the bat) the maximum barrel size is 2-5/8 inches

11/12 and 13/15 Division: The maximum barrel size is 2-5/8 inches.

Composite bats used in the 13/15 Division must be BBCOR certified and stamped as such on the bat or be approved for play by the National Federation of High Schools. For all other divisions, composite bats must be marked as having a “bat performance factor” (BPF) of 1.15.

No multi-wall bats may be used.

No softball or other special bats may be used.

Wooden bats are permitted.

Weighted warm-up bats are allowed for warm-up or for use on the on-deck circle only.

The home plate umpire is the sole judge of the condition of the bat and if it meets specifications. The umpire has the right to pull a bat prior to the player’s at-bat, and not allow its use in the game.

TRC Baseball Rules

The TRC Baseball Competition Committee reviews rules annually to ensure a fun, competitive and rewarding experience for all players. Coaches, Umpires and Board Members may submit requests for rule changes in writing to the Division President, Youth Umpire Coordinator, or TRC Youth Baseball Commissioner.  All submissions can be reviewed no earlier than the day after the last game of the In-House Spring Season and must be enacted prior to Opening Day of the following season.  Additionally, all rule changes voted on by the competition committee are subject to approval by the TRC Baseball Board.

The interpretation and enforcement of rules during games is the sole discretion of the Adult or Youth Home Plate Umpire Officiating the game. Any question regarding rules should be directed to the Youth Umpire Coordinator, Division President, or TRC Youth Baseball Commissioner.

THE RULES POSTED BELOW ARE EFFECTIVE AS OF APRIL 1, 2023.
